Artistic and cultural proposals for schools (PACE)

Are you an association, artist or author interested in promoting artistic and cultural education in Montpellier schools? Then you can take part in Propositions artistiques et culturelles pour les Écoles (PACE), which run from January to June during school time. Extensions of these actions into extracurricular and after-school time should be proposed if an ALSH exists in the school.

These proposals should enable as many children as possible to have access to cultural and artistic education, which revolves around 3 pillars:

  • Having an artistic practice with a professional,
  • Seeing works / visiting cultural venues,
  • Developing knowledge.

PACEs are run jointly by the City of Montpellier, the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles d'Occitanie and the Direction des services départementaux de l'éducation nationale de l'Hérault.

Funding ranging from €500 to €3,500 may be awarded to each school for its artistic project. The amount of funding allocated depends on several criteria:

  • The educational, artistic and cultural quality of the project. In other words, whether the project proposes actions that develop the three pillars of artistic and cultural education (encounter with a work, artistic practice with a professional artist and appropriation of knowledge);
  • The number of pupils involved (class(es) or school(s) projects) ;
  • Target audiences (QPV, REP, REP+, inclusive pupils);
  • Structures on which the project is based;
  • Articulation between school time and extracurricular time, or even on extracurricular and leisure time ;
  • The means and conditions for implementing the action (objectives, timetable, target audiences, financial forecast);
  • The technical and human means of implementation;
  • The student's artistic and cultural education pathway (consultation within the school to vary the artistic fields/encounters/discoveries throughout the student's primary schooling);
  • If the school has already received a grant in the interests of fairness with other schools.
