Attend sporting events

The Festival International des Sports Extrêmes brings together the best international riders to ensure nearly 25 different competitions in skateboarding, rollerblading, bmx, mountain bike and wakeboarding, in professional and amateur categories.

Every year, the Metropole and the FISE team organize a competition open to all, relocated in the Metropole's communes, to allow local amateurs to try their hand at competition. Those who come out on top at FISE Métropole can take part in FISE World Montpellier.

Montpellier is currently the only city in the region to host an ATP (Association du Tennis Professionnel) 250 indoor tennis tournament. Every year, the best players in the ATP rankings compete against each other, much to the delight of spectators at the Arena de Montpellier.

The ITF brings the hopefuls of women's professional tennis to Grabels every year. It is part of the official world professional tennis circuit, enabling young players to improve their WTA (Women's Tennis Association) professional ranking.

Over 9 days, 32 players compete in singles and 16 teams in doubles, right through to the finals.

Every year, runners of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in one of the 5 Montpellier Marathon races: the Kids race, the Nordic health walk, the marathon relay, the half-marathon and, of course, the flagship 42.195-kilometre race.

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is honoring pétanque in order to encourage this sporting practice throughout the territory. The 1st edition of this boules competition was held in June 2016.

The tambourine ball game is a little-known but spectacular sport with technical dives and slides with very precise rules. "Les Masters de tambourin" from Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, takes place in Cournonterral to showcase this local sport.

This competition remains the biggest annual tambourine event.

A Beach Volleyball tournament on the sands of the Hôtel de Ville forecourt, the Montpellier Beach Pro Tour offers the opportunity to try out and discover this sport thanks to activities organized over 10 days of events.

The Jumping National de Montpellier is one of the region's most important equestrian competitions. Every year, this event brings together numerous top-level riders of international renown, over 4 days of competition.

A traditional local sport, Camargue racing is back in the public eye around the metropolis with the Trophée Taurin. 11 Camargue races take place in different arenas in the communes to designate the best raseteur.
