Zero waste solutions

Ressourceries, recycleries, bulk buying, repair, second-hand... Find the right address near you!

To buy, sell or donate, there's no shortage of structures :

  • Sale depots and second-hand shops offer a very wide choice of objects at attractive prices;
  • Brocantes, flea markets, garage sales or antique shops are often full of bargains;
  • Classified ads in local newspapers and specialized websites (object resales or auctions) offer objects in good condition and at low or even free prices (www.donnons.org);
  • Exchange markets operated in structures such as crèches, schools, local associations or cultural centers enable second-hand items to be found at competitive prices (clothing, books, toys, childcare equipment...).

So, by donating your belongings or buying second-hand items from specialized associations, you're getting a bargain while doing a good deed in social, environmental and economic terms.

The "5 Rs" to remember

  1. Refuse

The first reflex is to refuse what you don't need: single-use products, till receipts, advertising.

If every household in the Metropole stuck a "Stop pub" on their letterbox, 5.7 tons of waste could be saved.

  1. Reduce

  • Avoid food waste and packaging.
  • Buy in bulk and bring your own containers to retailers.
  1. Reuse

Prefer reusable items: rent, borrow, repair, buy second-hand, give your items a second life. Numerous recycling centers supported by the Métropole refurbish and resell items at fair prices. Repair Cafés also help you extend the life of your objects, or you can call in a professional.

Repair bonus: benefit from a discount on the cost of your repair, at your nearest eco-organization-labeled repairer :

  • Clothing, household linen and shoe repairers
  • Electrical and household appliance repairers
  1. Recycle

As a last resort, recycle recyclable packaging and materials. Find all the information in the Sorting and Collection Guide.

Sorting glass is also a gesture of solidarity: €2 per tonne of glass collected is donated to the Hérault Committee of the League against Cancer.

Think about reusable bottles with OC Consigne in the store or at your nearest partner producer!
