To contribute to the influence and social cohesion of its territory, the Metropole of Montpellier supports elite sports clubs and associations that express themselves at the highest national levels.
Montpellier rhymes with excellence and diversity of disciplines
Baseball, basketball, canoeing-kayaking, chess, soccer, rhythmic and sports gymnastics, handball, ice hockey, swimming, skating, rugby, rescue and first aid, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, table tennis, judo, breaking, or armchair rugby.
200,000 in subsidies for sports clubs
The City of Montpellier is particularly committed to promoting accessibility to physical and sporting activities. As part of its 2023-2026 "Ambition Sport" sports action plan, it is mobilizing alongside clubs to support them in their sports projects.
In 2024, its support for investments by sports associations thus amounts to €200,000.
Objective: to enable associations to finance equipment and materials designed to improve their sporting standards.
Conditions
Eligible expenditure must be capital expenditure (recorded in the structure's balance sheet as fixed asset expenditure) and may involve:
- IT and digital tools;
- The purchase of equipment or materials directly linked to the structure's activity;
- The purchase of passenger transport vehicles (minibuses) with priority given to the most environmentally-friendly acquisitions.
Only expenses incurred from the date of submission of the application file to the call for projects and duly justified are considered eligible. All expenses incurred prior to this date will not be taken into account.
Selection criteria
The interest of the project with regard to the development of physical and sporting activities on the scale of the City's territory (development of the activity with new audiences, for example);
- Its relevance to the activity of the association and the discipline concerned;
- The viability of its economic model, both in terms of investment and operation.
- The financial framework for awarding the grant is specified in an award agreement signed between the City of Montpellier and the project sponsor.
