Transforming the neighborhood
This project is at the heart of the actions of the City and Metropolis of Montpellier, with the ambition of improving the living environment of residents, rebalancing the city and regaining the attractiveness of this area. Making residents and local players a stakeholder in the transformation of their neighborhood is a major objective.
Many projects are underway:
- renovation of the Neptune nautical center,
- construction of two school groups and a building for young working people and seniors,
- creation of a mixed police station with national and municipal police,
- construction of a temporary shopping center in the Sud Mosson sector.
The Tour d'Assas was demolished in 2024 after memory work carried out in 2023 with local residents, schools and associations.
Training initiatives for young people, such as the Geeks du Bâtiment or the École Régionale du Numérique, carried out at La Mosson will help facilitate their access to employment, as will the Territoire Zéro Chômeur de Longue Durée project that the town supports alongside Grabels.
The recent creation of the social housing brigade (GSRI) and the Police métropolitaine des transports reinforce the security actions carried out with the State.
The Mosson project house

Located within the Espace Gisèle Halimi, the Maison du Projet Mosson is a place for information, exchange and consultation on the Mosson Urban Renewal Project, on current and future works, and on the dates of interventions at the heart of the district's commercial hub.
It is made available to local institutions, civic bodies and associations to encourage outreach and links in a dynamic territorial project.
