At a time when cyber attacks are on the increase and represent a critical threat to the economic stability of businesses and public services, it's essential that every municipality, large or small, becomes aware of the risks and implements the necessary measures to protect its digital infrastructures.
Faced with the cyber threat, public players need to take the measure of the threat and train their staff in good IT security practices. The City and Metropolis of Montpellier are dedicated to this through phishing exercises, cyber training, etc.
In the region, local and international cybersecurity solutions are already operational among companies in the French Tech Méditerranée network. A few examples:
- Pradeo develops protection solutions for corporate fleets of smartphones and tablets, highlighting the growing dangers associated with malicious applications, phishing and espionage via mobile networks.
- Seclab focuses on securing critical infrastructures, including nuclear power plants, rail networks and military installations. Their expertise in physical cybersecurity ensures that strategic facilities are protected against sophisticated cyber threats.
- Devensys Cybersecurity specializes in cyber crisis management. With a team dedicated to rapid incident response and 24/7 monitoring services, Devensys helps organizations prepare for, react to and recover from an attack.
- Acelys Services Numériques designs software to protect corporate information systems and relies on a proactive approach via penetration testing to identify and correct vulnerabilities before they are exploited.
SI-CLOUD designs local datacenters and secure data backup solutions dedicated to companies in the region.
The Cybersecurity Meeting on October 17, 2024

More than 150 participants were present at this first edition, held on October 17, 2024. Organized in partnership with Cyber'Occ, the AMF 34, the CyberTour and theFrench Tech Méditerranée, it brought together elected officials, technical managers, business leaders and cybersecurity experts from across the region.
These meetings affirmed the Montpellier Metropole's commitment to strengthening the territory's digital resilience. Through these exchanges, Ville and Métropole demonstrate their commitment to supporting and promoting best practices in cybersecurity, in collaboration with experts and businesses in the region.
On this occasion, the commune of Frontignan La Peyrade shared a poignant testimony about the cyberattack it suffered in 2022, highlighting the concrete consequences of this type of threat. The incident revealed that cyberattacks now target all types of actors, including local public services.
The impacts go far beyond financial losses: service interruptions can be particularly damaging for citizens, and the psychological effects on municipal staff, faced with crisis situations, are also to be taken into account. This feedback has underlined the importance of rigorous preparation and enhanced security to protect the digital infrastructures of local authorities.
