Chabaneau fountain

  • 1773: Journet, a sculptor from Le Vigan, is commissioned to build it
  • November 8, 1776: commissioning

A seated female figure holds a shield on which are carved the arms of the city of Montpellier. In her other hand, the woman holds an urn from which water flows in abundance, while a chubby boy looks on. Lions' heads and tritons spit water into a circular basin.
