Micro-flowering
What is micro-flowering?

Microflowering consists in piercing the pavement, at the foot of a wall, so that you can install a substrate and plant a climbing plant, supplied by the City, that you choose when you register.
In addition, fasteners will be fixed into the wall to run a wire through it. This wire will act as a growth medium for the plant. This entire intervention is taken care of and organized by the city.
Microflowering may not be implanted less than 50 cm from any type of network (electrical box, telephone cables ...). It is important to note that the hole in the pavement will be conditioned by the absence of underground networks. When you register, you can indicate the preferred location for your micro-flowering, but this is likely to be moved depending on these networks. The City will study these and drill the hole accordingly.
On receipt of the certificate and feasibility study, you will be informed by e-mail that your application has been accepted, and you will be offered slots to collect your climbing plant from the Grammont municipal greenhouses.

In brief
What the city does:
- Piercing a sidewalk at the foot of a wall
- Installing growth supports on the wall above the breakthrough
- Donation of a climbing plant to come and collect
- Allocation in autumn after feasibility study
Installation and maintenance constraints:
- Piercing possible only in the absence of an underground network, on a point at least 50 cm away from any installation or wiring (a feasibility study is carried out by our services)
- Provide the certificate of agreement from the owner or co-owner (available when registering)
- Pick up your plant and put it in the ground
- Supervise the plant's growth and prune so that it doesn't damage public furniture or obscure signage
Plant care

After picking up your plant, you'll need to plant it and maintain it properly so that it gradually takes over your facade. As you go along, it's advisable to install additional growth supports for the plant so that its branches continue to climb and don't fall onto the public highway.
Be careful, though, it's imperative to accompany the growth of your microflowering so that it doesn't inconvenience users or damage urban infrastructure. To this end, the applicant undertakes to:
- Priming. Low branches must be cut back so that the plant does not hinder the movement of people with reduced mobility and baby carriages. This also allows the plant to concentrate on growing taller, enabling it to gain your frontage more quickly.
- Keep growth under control on higher ground. To avoid damaging your building's networks and roof, you'll need to keep the plant within reach of the pruning tools you have at your disposal. For this reason, you must limit its growth to the 1st floor.
- Do not obscure signs or lighting. The plant must not obscure public lighting or road signs. It must also not interfere with electrical boxes or other networks.
If a problem is identified as a result of failure to comply with these points, the City will contact you. If nothing is done within 21 days, we reserve the right to intervene and invoice you directly.
Where and when can you collect your greening voucher?
Climate issues are forcing us to be vigilant about water consumption and choose the best planting period. The city of Montpellier has therefore decided to extend the planting voucher to one season/year.
If your application is accepted, your micro-flowering voucher is to be collected from the Centre Horticole municipal:
