The Mediterranean hedge

What is the Mediterranean hedge gift?

The aim of this scheme is to reinforce the role of vegetation in the town's territory, and more specifically the hedgerow networks that act as habitats and ecological corridors (encouraging movement) for wildlife.

The species proposed for this scheme are all local shrub species that are perfectly adapted and favorable to local fauna: birds, insects, small mammals.

How does it work?

Once the application has been accepted by the City, you will be contacted to collect your shrubs from the municipal greenhouses. The plants are donated at the end of the autumn season (around December). You must then plant and care for your shrubs. The City will then come and check that the installation has been carried out as planned.

Like the tree donation, the Mediterranean hedge is a device that does not concern the public domain. We ask you to provide a photo of the site concerned when you register.

Where and when can you collect your greening voucher?

The registration period runs each year from January 1 to June 30. Revegetation vouchers are distributed in November.

Climate issues are forcing us to be vigilant about water consumption and to choose the best planting period. The city of Montpellier has therefore decided to extend the vegetation voucher to one season/year.
