Towards AIDS-free Montpellier

Get informed, protect yourself, get tested in Montpellier

Solidary and active in the fight against AIDS, the City of Montpellier, in partnership with all local prevention associations, is committed all year round to the "M Sans SIDA" program.

Healthy territory, rich in a strong medical tradition, a player in prevention, Montpellier confirms its commitment by mobilizing in the fight against the epidemic.

The aim of this program:

  • reminding people of the urgency of the fight against the disease by promoting screening and the means to protect oneself;
  • reminding people of the need for solidarity with HIV-positive people.

AIDS can't be seen

In France, 150,000 people are HIV-positive, 30,000 of whom are unaware they are carrying the virus.

For the past 10 years, this situation has been accompanied by a sharp increase in STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). All too often, people are screened late and discover their HIV status at an advanced stage of the disease. While the entire population is concerned by HIV, the risk of exposure is significantly higher among male homosexuals.

To strike at the heart of the HIV epidemic and drastically reduce the number of new infections: that's the goal AIDES has set itself with the creation of Le Spot, an innovative concept bringing together in one place the very best in prevention and support.

Le Spot offers HIV and STI screening and treatment (test and treat) in the same place and at the same time to populations most at risk of contamination: men who have sex with men (MSM), trans people, sex workers.

Some results are available in 90 minutes, with treatment administered immediately. Vaccinations for hepatitis A and B and HPV are also available. Prep is also offered to people wishing to benefit from this preventive tool.
This service is enhanced by a comprehensive sexual health offer with on-site consultations with various health professionals (addictologists, psychologist, sexologist, gynecologist and social worker) and community support. Expression groups are also organized.

The Spot is open Tuesday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday from 2pm to 6pm by appointment

When should I have a screening test?

If you've taken a risk

  • You've had sex without a condom with someone you don't know is HIV-negative.
  • The condom tore or slipped during intercourse.
  • You've shared injection equipment.

Go to a hospital emergency room as soon as possible, if possible with your partner, for treatment that can prevent contamination.
