France Identité is a public service application that extends the uses of the identity card into the digital world: proving your identity when taking online steps, voting by proxy without going anywhere, etc.
For whom?
The application is accessible to French adults with:
- a smartphone (IOS > 16 or Android 10 and + equipped with NFC - contactless technology)
- a new format electronic National Identity Card (CNIe).
How does it work?
Create your digital identity
Download the France Identité app on Play Store or App Store, create your space and fill in your profile.
Check your identity at the town hall
You can visit the mairie de Montpellier without an appointment to have your identity checked: this involves proving that the user of the France Identité account is indeed the holder of the identity card attached to the account.
Validate your power of attorney
Go to maprocuration.gouv.fr and choose online identity verification with France Identité.
Your account is certified within 48 hours. You will then be able to vote by proxy via your France Identité application during the next elections.
