Les Néréides swimming pool

Located on an 8,150 m² plot of land, formerly used as the Georges Brassens college sports ground and transferred by the commune to Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the Néréides swimming pool comprises 2,400 m² of floor space, including 2,000 m² for areas open to the public and administrative premises. 400 m² are devoted to technical premises.

In Greek mythology, the Nereids, from the ancient Greek "to swim", are sea nymphs, daughters of Nereus and Doris. There are around fifty of them, forming the procession of Poseidon, the Greek god of the seas and oceans. They are depicted as beautiful young girls with hair entwined with pearls, carried on dolphins or sea horses.

The pool features:

  • Learning and play pool, 185 m2 with massaging jets
  • Wading pool, designed for child-friendliness and safety
  • Indoor beach with space for deckchairs

The entire complex is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

  • The pools are evacuated 20 min before closing time, 30 min in case of heavy use.
  • Ticket sales end 15 min before the pools are evacuated.
  • Please bring a €0.50 coin for your changing room.

Swimwear

  • Swimming caps compulsory for all.For small children, prefer fabric caps, which are more comfortable to wear.
  • For men: only swim trunks and boxer shorts are allowed (swimwear such as shorts or swimming trunks is forbidden).
  • For women: only classic one- or two-piece swimsuits are allowed.Sarongs and any other clothing are forbidden.
  • Baby diapers: the use of diapers is forbidden when swimming for proven hygiene reasons.
