Heatwave risk
Impacted by climate disruption, areas around the Mediterranean can experience periods of intense heat. These can have serious consequences for the human organism, particularly for vulnerable people.
In Montpellier, the Centre communal d'actions sociales (CCAS) provides support to residents registered on the Registre des personnes isolées. In times of heatwave, the City, the Metropole and the CCAS implement actions aimed at informing and supporting populations.

Heatwave risk: adopt the right reflexes

Heat can be conducive to the formation of air pollutants. Take a look at the Occitanie air quality index.
Your pets can also suffer from the heat. Keep them out of the sun and give them water to keep them hydrated. Be sure never to leave them alone in a car, even for a few minutes.
Where can I cool off in Montpellier?
Do you find it difficult to keep an acceptable temperature in your home? You can visit Montpellier's cool places during the day or in the evening: golden age clubs, swimming pools, heritage sites, museums, media libraries, administrative buildings, cinemas, the aquarium... Some of these places are open to the public.
In orange or red heatwave vigilance, the Mayor will make the decision to extend their opening hours.
To cool off in the city, also think about drinking water points and fountains, as well as parks and gardens, which offer more temperate spaces.
