Plan Climat assistance for home energy renovation

What is climate plan assistance?

The Metropole has chosen to allocate a climate plan grant to encourage people to carry out renovation work, enabling them to achieve at least 40% energy savings.

Work to thermally improve the envelope is to be favored (roof insulation, facades, windows...) as it reduces energy requirements and provides comfort that cannot be obtained simply by changing the heating system. The ventilation system must also be well adapted.

The heating and domestic hot water equipment can then be chosen according to the new energy requirements.

Key points of climate plan assistance:

  • Assistance is available for all private housing in metropolitan France,
  • It is aimed at owner-occupiers or lessors of houses or apartments, but also at collective projects in condominiums,
  • It is a lump sum: 2,600€ / dwelling or housing lot in co-ownerships,
  • It applies without a means test,
  • It can be combined with other grants (within the limits of the capping rules specific to each grant),
  • A prior energy audit (or equivalent) is required to demonstrate that the chosen renovation project will deliver at least 40% in energy savings,
  • Application must be made before work begins,
  • Aid is paid after work has been completed, on presentation of invoices,
  • For condominium collective renovation projects, an advance of 80% is paid once estimates have been signed and aid awarded.

Apply for climate plan assistance

Step 1: I check the eligibility of my project

In addition to those described above, conditions inherent to your situation are required to obtain this assistance. It is therefore imperative to make an initial check with l'ALEC (Agence locale de l'énergie et du climat) de Montpellier Métropole before submitting an application for assistance.

Step 2: I submit my application for assistance

Once you have obtained ALEC's approval, you can submit your application for assistance via the form below so that a technical analysis can be carried out. If your file is complete and your work project complies with the requirements for accessing the aid, you will be sent an award notification.

If you are accompanied in your project (Agence nationale de l'habitat(ANAH), Mon Accompagnateur Rénov', Assistant à Maîtrise d'Ouvrage), the latter can submit the application on your behalf, if you wish.

Step 3: I submit my grant application

Once the work is completed, you can submit the required documents via the dedicated platform to access the grant payment.

Going further

The Metropole finances programmed home improvement schemes to provide free, neutral support.

The Metropole allocates aid from the Agence Nationale de l'Habitat (ANAH) of which it is the delegate, and additional aid of its own.

The Metropole has set up programmed housing improvement schemes in targeted sectors to requalify older housing. In these cases, it supports condominiums or individual homeowners in carrying out major work (access to substantial ANAH aid and its own funds - support via an operator throughout the project).

If you are concerned by a sectorized housing improvement scheme (Montpellier Old Town - Celleneuve Old Town), the ALEC can direct you to an operator chosen by the Metropole to assist you.

Other operations are targeted at condominiums to requalify them (Mosson, Cévennes).

For owner-occupiers on a means-tested basis, Métropole has set up the Programme d'Intérêt Général "Aides à la rénovation pour un habitat durable et solidaire" which concerns the entire metropolitan area and helps owner-occupiers (subject to resources) to renovate their homes: upgrading, structural work, energy renovation, home support for the elderly or disabled.

Landlords are invited to rent out their accommodation on a solidarity basis. In this case, they may be eligible for assistance in financing work via the assistance scheme for renting out your solidarity housing (Loc'Avantages).

It makes more sense to thermally renovate a condominium than to renovate one apartment at a time. Since 70% of the Montpellier metropolitan area is made up of condominiums, it encourages collective renovation in condominiums. A pole is dedicated to condominiums within ALEC to advise you and monitor your project.

To find out what energy renovation options are available, an energy audit of the condominium can be carried out free of charge via a contract that the condominium can choose to sign with the AREC Occitanie (Agence Régionale de l'Energie et du Climat).

The Occitanie Region via the AREC has, in fact, chosen to set up an audit offer for condominiums. The Metropole of Montpellier has decided to cover the remaining €90 per housing lot to make this audit entirely free for condominiums. The Guichet Unique Rénov'Occitanie (ALEC Montpellier Métropole) will put you in touch with AREC if your condominium's renovation project matches this offer.

To be eligible for financing of the remaining cost of the audit part, i.e. €90/lot, the co-ownership will have to meet the following conditions:

  • Be accompanied by the Guichet Unique Rénov'Occitanie (ALEC Montpellier Métropole);
  • Housing located in one of the 31 communes of the Métropole;
  • Have signed the tripartite contract (AREC Occitanie, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, beneficiary).

If your condominium decides to carry out a high-performance renovation with an energy gain of at least 40%, AREC Occitanie can offer you an Assistance à Maîtrise d'Ouvrage (AMO) contract, but you can also choose to find another AMO by requesting several quotes. A list of AMOs can be provided by the Guichet Unique Rénov'Occitanie.

Condominiums also have access to specific assistance: MaPrimeRénov' Copropriété.

There are a number of grants available from the Agence Nationale de l'Habitat (ANAH) that will depend on your income and the work envisaged. For comprehensive renovations, you can enter a "supported path" scheme. In this case, you'll need to be accompanied by an approved "Mon accompagnateur Rénov' - MAR'" structure.

This fee-based support will make it easier for you to carry out the project, and give you access to specific assistance "MaPrimeRénov'- Parcours accompagné".
