Cyber-attack risk
A cyber-attack is a malicious attack on computer systems. It targets various IT devices: computers or servers, isolated or networked, connected or not to the Internet, peripheral equipment such as printers, or communicating devices such as cell phones, "smartphones" or tablets.
There are 4 types of cyber risk with varying consequences, directly or indirectly affecting individuals, administrations and businesses:
- Cybercrime: cybercrime is increasingly targeting individuals and businesses, who are subject to attacks with the aim of obtaining personal data and exploiting it. Simple gestures can prevent this type of attack.
- Image damage : used to destabilize companies or establishments, these attacks make use of online tools and/or services, accessible to all. The claims are most often posted online on social networks to harm the image of the person or company.
- Espionage: spying on confidential data is most often targeted and sophisticated, in order to gather the desired information with the utmost discretion. Sometimes it takes several years for a company to realize that it has been the victim of espionage.
- Sabotage: the aim of computer sabotage is to create a malfunction in a company's computer system.
